A Message From Our Chair
Hello, I am Kathy Roberts, Chairwomen for Go Red for Women 2013. As a nurse and clinical educator I am so excited to be a part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement.
For 10 years, women have been fighting heart disease individually and together as part of the Go Red For Women movement. More than 627,000 women’s lives have been saved, but the fight is far from over.
Heart disease is still our No. 1 killer – it affects more women than men and is more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. But the strength of mothers, sisters, daughters and friends fighting side by side is more powerful than any killer. It’s time to shout louder, stand stronger and demand change.
In recognition of the 10th National Wear Red Day on February 1, 2013, Go Red For Women asks that across America, Women Go Red. In the past, we have proudly worn red. But this February, let’s do more than that. Let’s make sure that every landmark, every organization and every home in Northeast Louisiana goes red. Let’s shine that red spotlight on heart disease in women.
On the evening of February 21, 2013, the annual Go Red for Women fundraising event will take place at the West Monroe Convention Center. Please join us for fun, food, and dynamics speakers so that we can raise awareness and money for this fight. Together, we can end heart disease.
I look forward to meeting you at the various educational programs throughout the community over the next few months and on our special evening as well.
Women Go Red!
Sincerely,
Kathy Roberts
